Hello
I thought I’d keep my first Blog short and sweet and simply say hello. My name is Craig Leadley and you can read more about who I am and what I do in the ‘about‘ section of my website.
Professional life
In my professional life I am a Food Technologist with 30 years experience in the industry. I work for Campden BRI. This is a research and technology organisation that supports the food and drink industry with consultancy, training and analytical services around the world. I coordinate research and development activities at Campden BRI. Additionally, I’ve developed and implemented a technical academy for the business. I’ve helped companies at all scales and sizes. I have a particular technical interest in shelf-life extension technologies. High Pressure Processing is a technology I’ve studied for most of my professional career.
Personal life
Hopefully, it goes without saying, that ‘what I do’ is not ‘who I am’. I enjoy my work but I try not to let it define me. I’m happily married with 2.4 kids and a dog.
When I’m not spending time with my family, I’m usually spending time on one of my hobbies or I’m trying to learn something new. I’m a keen bread baker. I enjoy close up card magic. I’ve practiced martial arts for most of my life. I play the guitar and ukulele reasonably well and I’m learning to play the piano. Currently, I’m trying to learn how to animate using ‘Open Toonz’. Unfortunately, my progress with animation is slow because I’m totally rubbish at drawing! This has led me down a new rabbit hole of trying to learn how to draw. Finally, I’m also teaching myself to use storyline which is some software used for e-training development.
Why build a website?
I wanted to create this website for a bit of fun and for the challenge. I hope to connect with new people. I’m still not sure about the content I’ll post (which is probably a terrible way to start a website) so I’ll learn as I go. You can access my home page here. That’s all for now.
